He was aged just 48 years. Edward, or Eddie or just plain Ed, as his many friends knew him, was a Jaguar fanatic of many years standing. Immediately prior to his untimely death, he had just delivered a Jaguar back to one of his friends. The last thing he did was too drive one of the cars he loved. Ed ran his own business as a panel beater, paint sprayer and mechanic and was the sort of guy that would do anything to help anyone. Nothing was too much trouble and he was always there to lend a hand, regardless of the nature of the problem. Classic cars played a big part in his life, but his real passion was for Jaguars. He loved my Daimler V8, and I know he loved to drive it back after servicing it for me. For a number of years he also helped run the local Stoke Goldington Cub and Cub Scout troops, and was a larger than life character in and around Newport Pagnell and the villages. A fantastic and loyal friend, who not only looked after my cars, but was also great fun to be with. Many a happy and hilarious evening was spent having a pint with Ed. I don't think I ever knew him to be serious as he could see the funny side in everything. I just wish he could have eventually painted my Daimler Dart for me, as I know he was looking forward to doing that. He leaves his wife Joy, and sons Daniel and Lawrence, and our deepest sympathy goes out to them at this sad time. He will be missed terribly by his family and many friends, customers and business associates in the motor trade. A very special and trusted friend who will never be forgotten. God bless you Ed. |
