What is it?

The 'Hot Seat' is an interview in the form of a questionnaire.

It was conceived to allow people to easily become involved in contributing to the site. People have told me that they would like to contribute but find it daunting sitting down with a blank sheet of paper.

The idea of using a questionnaire is that it removes some of the drudgery of writing (something that most of us haven’t had to do since leaving school) and allows you to simply concentrate on what you are most interested in – talking about your passion.

Those who have completed the questionnaire have found it both easy and enjoyable.

How do I get hold of the questions?

The questionnaire can be requested from this page and it will be emailed to you.

To allow us to track interest, we require that you be a registered user and that you currently are logged in before we can send out the questionnaire.

So don't delay, login to the site right now and return to this page to request your copy of the Hot Seat questionnaire.

If you haven't previously registered then please click here to register now, remembering to read our terms & conditions first.

How do I complete it?

Completing it is easy - you just answer the questions.

If you can't (or don't want to) answer a particular question then you simply leave it out. Similarly, if there is something that you want to say that isn't covered by one of the questions then make up a new question. If it is a good general question then it will be added to the questionnaire for all future people.

A common question I am asked is about style. There is no right or wrong answer here, all I would say is to do what you are comfortable with. If you try taking a look through the back issues you will see that everyone has there own style and you may be able to pick up a few pointers.

What do I do then?

You then return the answers to the editor in whatever format you like (Word document or email) along with any images you may have that can illustrate your answers. As you will see from the Hot Seat features we have had so far, the inclusion of photos makes a huge difference to the overall enjoyment of the article.

Preferably photos should be sent electronically as this significantly reduces the amount of work required to complete the article. This is an increasingly easy option for people with the advent of digital cameras and scanners. If this literally is not an option then let us know when you submit your answers and we will discuss how you can post photos that can be scanned and returned to you.

What happens next?

You’ll get confirmation that your questionnaire has been received. A web page will be created from your answers and you will be advised when it is likely to be published.

You will get an opportunity to review it before it is finally released on the public site.
