Editor's welcome - April 2005

Welcome to the April 2005 edition of Classic Car Times.

This month I am very pleased to be able to offer another free to enter reader’s prize draw, this time sponsored by our friend at Autoglym, so good luck in that.

As I predicted, last month’s prize draw sponsored Geoff Thornley for an original artwork proved very popular. The site obviously includes details of the winner but I would like to highlight to you here that Geoff says all of the remaining pictures are available and reasonable offers will be considered. Click here to see more details.

I was also pleased to hear from Geoff that due to last month’s competition he has been contacted regarding some commission work. Being able to bring people together like this is what I see as being the primary objectives of the site.

More personally, we had a family day out to Donington on Easter Sunday for a Historic Sports Car Club race meeting. The weather wasn’t too great which put a bit of a dampener on the day, but we still had a great time. Unfortunately, this meant that there were actually very few classics in the car parks, which instead were mostly full of non-descript family saloons (ours included). I’ll probably share more about this with you in future when I see what comes off the cameras.

Other than that, Dad and I are planning to join in with the Barnsley branch of the Morris Minor Owners Club on their annual JOGLE (John O’Groats to Lands End) event in June, which requires the run to be completed in 24 hours!

The car has been in the garage this week for some welding and will need respraying at some time in the near future. At the moment we’re unsure whether to do it before or after JOGLE. We’re planning to raise money for a local charity and so one option is to sell advertising space on the car, so a respray afterwards may be a better idea. The beauty of advertising on the side of a Morris Minor is that you know that everyone will have plenty of time to read it as we pass by!

To those corporate readers out there, be warned that I may be approaching you for sponsorship!

As ever, I hope you enjoy the rest of the site this month.
