| You are not logged in Editor's welcome - May 2005Welcome to the May 2005 edition of Classic Car Times. I hoped this month to be able to tell you that I had a new car. I spotted an advert for a Series 1 2+2 E-type, which I thought, was destined to be mine. I arranged to view the car and fortunately managed to catch up with it at the garage where I was able to have a good look at the underside, which appeared to be sound. On the test drive it ran like a dream and I managed to overlook the fact that one of the windscreen wipers fell off. All in all, it was exactly what I was looking for, a solid, condition 2 car. Unfortunately, this final point was where negotiations collapsed as the seller was asking a condition 1 or even 1+ price for a car which I had listed 2 pages of jobs that needed attending to. There was no doubting the condition of the car and I was willing to pay the going rate as listed in all of the major magazines and the JEC website, but the seller seemed adamant about the price they were after. I can only imagine that this was roughly the price they had paid when they bought it from a dealer a few years earlier. So it was back to the Morris Minor for the first show of the year on the bank holiday Monday. It turned out to be a glorious day and I have the sunburn to prove it. This turned out to be a useful test run out for the car in preparation for our marathon in June. Once again, I’ll shamelessly ask all corporate readers out there, to consider sponsoring us on this in aid of a very worthy cause. Please check out the JOGLE preview for further details. As ever, I hope you enjoy the rest of the site this month.
