| You are not logged in Editor's welcome - July 2005Welcome to the July 2005 edition of Classic Car Times. I must start by apologising for there being no June edition. This was due to a combination of personal and professional commitments, which meant that I simply didn’t have time to produce an update to the site. The situation was also exacerbated by the fact that the number of contributions I’ve been receiving appears to be drying up so I’ll take this opportunity to extend by usual plea to all of you budding journalists out there to get in touch to discuss how you can contribute. One contribution which I was very pleased to receive this month however was from Esmond Tearle with the latest instalment on his Daimler Dart restoration. I was beginning to worry that Esmond wasn’t going to complete his restoration so it was great to hear from him again. Apart from this, I am once again very pleased to be able to announce another reader’s prize draw. This month’s competition sponsored by Green Umbrella is for the ‘8 DVD Boxset – Classic Cars’ which has been featured over recent months. I can assure you that this is a fantastic prize, so make sure you get your entry in. On a personal note, this month saw the annual John O’Groats to Lands End Endurance Run organised by the Barnsley Branch of the Morris Minor Owners Club. The very fact that I’m here now tells you at least that it wasn’t a complete disaster, but to see how we got on you will have to read the review as it unfolds over the coming months. Finally, I’m writing this just after watching the qualifying for the French Grand Prix. Once again, much of the talk was about Indianapolis. I won’t go into a rant about this, this is much better left to the likes of Petrol Head, but I can’t help feeling that the teams that pulled out did so for exactly the right reasons. I also think that more could or should have been done to allow a competitive race to take place. Michelin refunding ticket prices, whilst being a noble gesture, will not alter the fact that the name of the sport has probably irreparably damaged, particularly in the States. As ever, I hope you enjoy the rest of the site this month.
